A private family in Alpine, NJ is seeking an experienced Private Chef to prepare healthy, fresh, and approachable meals for a husband and wife, along with simple and kid-friendly options for their children.

The family values healthy cooking, quality ingredients, and fresh food , but prefers meals that are uncomplicated, flavorful, and enjoyable. The children are selective eaters, so the ideal chef will be creative and flexible when preparing nutritious meals that appeal to picky eaters.

The chef will work directly in the family's private home and will be responsible for preparing the family's daily lunches and dinners . Breakfast is generally not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fresh, healthy lunches and dinners for the family
• Prepare sophisticated but approachable meals for the adults
• Prepare simple, nutritious, and kid-friendly meals for the children
• Plan weekly menus based on the family's preferences and schedule
• Prepare meals in the family's private home
• Handle meal preparation, cooking, and plating as needed
• Accommodate picky eaters and children's individual preferences
• Shop for groceries and maintain appropriate kitchen inventory
• Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and sanitary throughout the cooking process
• Maintain high standards for food quality, freshness, and presentation
• Accommodate reasonable dietary preferences and food allergies
• Minimize food waste and use ingredients thoughtfully
• Adapt menus based on the family's changing schedule and needs
• Take direction from the family and adjust meals based on feedback

Requirements

• Previous private chef or family chef experience
• Strong cooking skills with an emphasis on healthy, fresh meals
• Experience cooking for children preferred
• Excellent professional references
• Ability to work independently in a private home
• Strong organizational and meal-planning skills
• Food safety knowledge and professional kitchen practices
• Must be comfortable working directly with a private family
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred

Schedule

This is a full-time, Monday–Friday position . The chef will work in the family's home and will be responsible for preparing lunches and dinners each day .

The exact daily schedule can be discussed with the right candidate based on the family's needs and meal times. Breakfast service is generally not required.
